Concrete interlocking tile is the most common covering on Irish housing since the seventies and it is straightforward to work with. Clay costs more and looks considerably better on a period property. Both are now dry-fixed at the ridge and verge as standard, which removes the mortar that used to crack and let water in.
How we do it
- 01
Specify
Tile selected for pitch — some profiles will not work below 22.5 degrees.
- 02
Batten
Membrane and battens set to the tile gauge.
- 03
Load & lay
Tiles loaded out evenly and laid from the eaves up.
- 04
Dry-fix
Ridge, hip and verge mechanically fixed rather than bedded.
